The History of Fairfield Christian Reformed Church
In the summer of 1978, the CRC board of Home Missions found Fairfield, CA and the surrounding community to be an area with good potential for developing a church. They felt that with the guidance of Christ and a dedicated minister, they could begin a Christian Reformed Church without a nucleus of people with a Christian Reformed background.
In July of 1979, Pastor Gary Hofland and his family arrived in Fairfield to begin this ministry. The first worship service was held on November 4, 1979 in a local school with 34 people in attendance.
In February 1980, a Steering Committee was formed with all members of the church seated on the committee. In October of the same year it was decided to seat only 10.
